Actual or Volumetric Weight: Which Counts?
MarkaShip shipping cost is based on actual weight or volumetric weight, whichever is greater. Volumetric weight reflects the space a parcel takes, not how heavy it is. The final figure is set once the product reaches the consolidation centre, so the calculator figure before weighing is an estimate, and shipping is paid before dispatch.

The rule in one sentence
The terms and help page state that shipping is calculated on actual weight or volumetric weight, whichever is greater. A light but bulky parcel will likely be charged on volumetric weight, a small but dense one on actual weight.
Why the difference matters
Items such as pillows, bedding, puffy clothing and empty toys can be light yet take a lot of room. A buyer may therefore be surprised by a figure higher than their weight on a scale suggested. The idea is explained in the FedEx reference linked from this guide.
When is the final weight set?
It is set after the product reaches the consolidation centre and its final weight is measured, not when you order. The calculator therefore gives only an advance estimate; the final figure then appears and is paid before dispatch. This applies to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Syria and every other destination.
How to reduce the volume
Consolidate your purchases into one shipment, avoid buying bulky items you do not need, and consider whether a big item is worth shipping. If a store sends a product in a box larger than necessary, ask customer service about the best arrangement before dispatch.
