Ask about the current condition

Ask the seller whether the tool contains paint, cleaner or an internal reservoir. Do not use touch or smell to identify an unknown substance. Keep the seller’s answer and available photographs, marking unknown materials clearly; an image cannot establish composition or complete internal dryness.

Identify the actual material

For a known paint or solvent, request the product name and available packaging or technical information. Do not classify all paints as water-based or all apparently dry brushes as acceptable. Collect evidence for review without transferring, diluting or repackaging unidentified residue to change its appearance.

List the accessories separately

Record cleaners, cartridges, used cloths and containers as separate contents. Being free or previously used does not remove an item from the inventory. If an accessory is unwanted, update the order with the seller or support rather than leaving it in an outdated packing list.

Review before preparation
