Fabric Pattern Repeats and Cutting Length

Find a complete repeat

Choose a recognizable motif and measure to its next identical position in the same direction. Record lengthwise and crosswise repeats separately. A close-up of one flower does not show its repeat distance; request a measurement or a wider, properly referenced image.

Place each piece on a plan

Draw the required pieces and mark the intended motif position on each one. Check alignment between neighboring pieces. Do not reverse a piece merely to save space when the pattern direction or fabric instructions require a consistent orientation throughout the finished work.

An alignment example

With an illustrative 30 cm lengthwise repeat and a 70 cm cutting length, the next piece may start at 90 cm if it must begin at the same motif position. This simplified example excludes width, seams and other layout choices; it is not an order recommendation.

Confirm before cutting

Check whether the seller supplies one continuous length or separate precut pieces, and ask about terms for cut fabric. Send the width, repeat and layout through Buy for Me. Adding several short lengths does not automatically provide a continuous piece with aligned motifs.
