Flat Garment Width or Circumference?
Double a flat width only when the listing clearly defines it as half of the relevant circumference. Back length, sleeve length and shoulder width are different measurements and should not be doubled.

Name the measurement
Check whether the chart describes body circumference, garment width or a flat measurement. Write down the start and end points and whether the fabric is stretched. A number without this definition is not a reliable basis for a size conversion.
A conditional example
A closed garment measuring 50 cm across the specified chest line gives an approximate 100 cm circumference at that line. This example does not establish that it fits a person with a 100 cm chest; construction and intended wearing ease still matter.
Measurements that stay unchanged
Back length, sleeve length and shoulder width are not half circumferences. Keep them as stated. For asymmetric garments or overlapping panels, ask how the seller defines width instead of counting an overlap as a simple additional portion of body circumference.
Make the comparison repeatable
Use a similar garment that fits you, close it and lay it out according to the stated method. Record the same reference points. If the chart remains unclear, send the product link and measurement question through Buy for Me before choosing a size.
