The outside does not show everything
Containers or organisers may arrive nested. A photo of the outer piece does not establish the full count. Compare the order with the published component list and define what can be inspected without opening a seal or changing condition.
Use a counting sequence
Record the outside item, then each inner layer with its size and count. Do not count a lid as an extra container or confuse sets with pieces. State the inventory unit explicitly.
Link the evidence
Associate each layer with its product reference and available photographs when agreed. If a group remains sealed, record that it was not separated. A count printed on the package is not an independent physical count of its contents.
Approve the inventory
Reconcile confirmed and expected quantities with the purchase before closure. Resolve discrepancies first. If the layers are separated for protection, retain their group relationship and update carton locations instead of omitting hidden components from the list.
