Product Weight: Net, Gross or Per Pack?

Define the listed weight

Check whether the listed weight covers the item alone or its retail packaging, and whether it applies per unit or set. An undefined weight is insufficient for shipping calculations.

Convert units first

Convert grams to kilograms before adding values and retain the unit beside every number. Do not add 500 grams and 1 kilogram as though they shared a unit.

Separate goods from packaging

Two items weighing 500 grams each total one kilogram for the goods only if those are net figures. Packaging and protection have not been included in that example. If 0.8 kg already covers a two-item pack, do not multiply it by two again. Write the included item count beside the weight before adding several orders.

Confirm the finished parcel

Record the source and scope beside each weight, then request the finished parcel measurement. A store listing weight should not be treated as a confirmed shipping bill.
