Two ways to ship kilims to Syria

If you buy kilims yourself from a store that delivers inside Turkey, enter the receiving-centre address with your name and box number, and the order is logged to your account. If the store rejects your card or asks for a Turkish phone, send the links with Buy for Me. Parcels stay free at the warehouse for up to 30 days so you can combine orders.

Transit time and mode

The parcel travels by land from Turkey, and transit is about two weeks once the shipment leaves, after the store’s own delivery inside Turkey to the warehouse. Once it arrives, the parcel is delivered in Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and Hama and other cities, and you follow each step from your account.

How the price is worked out

Syria has published reference rates by region; a medium carton (60×40×40 cm, up to 15 kg) runs from 15 US dollars for the northern governorates to 20 for Damascus, customs excluded, and the price is confirmed per shipment. A kilim is thinner and lighter than a knotted rug, so it can be folded or rolled small, which makes it far cheaper to ship than a rug of the same size; still, price its weight and dimensions in the shipping calculator before buying.

Size and authenticity

Read the actual size in centimetres on the product page rather than the general description, and ask the seller whether it is hand-woven or machine-made, since the price differs a lot. Ask for size, colours and edges to be checked at the warehouse and for it to be wrapped in plastic against moisture before closing. Charges may apply in Syria by value and quantity, and commercial quantities need a separate quote.
