Add the goods separately
Add the two item weights first and keep protection as a separate, unresolved entry. The sum of the goods should not be presented as the final parcel weight.
Use an illustrative calculation
Two hypothetical items weighing 0.6 and 0.9 kg total 1.5 kg before packaging. This is a mass calculation and does not establish a service price.
Label unmeasured protection
If protection has not been weighed, mark it unmeasured or use an explicitly assumed planning range. Do not present that range as a receiving-center observation. If protection is assumed at 0.2 to 0.4 kg, the planning range is 1.7 to 1.9 kg. Label that assumption; packed dimensions and weight still require measurement.
Compare chargeable weights
After packing, compare actual and volumetric weight using the service's method. Dimensions may govern even when the item-weight sum is accurate, so the box must also be measured.
