Furnishing a Diwaniya from Istanbul to Kuwait

Furnish the diwaniya in two batches: the big and bulky first, such as seating and rugs, then the fragile such as tea and coffee sets and cups, once you are sure of the measurements and the space. Rugs and cushions are calculated by volume, ceramic and glass sets by weight and packing, and for commercial quantities check the official Kuwait customs services.

Start with measurements, not shopping

Before any order, measure the room, decide where the seating goes, and check the door and corridor width, because a sofa that does not pass the diwaniya door is a total loss. Write each large piece’s dimensions from the store listing and compare them with what you measured. Then decide between floor seating and chairs, which changes the number of pieces, the volume and the weight together.

First batch: big and light

Rugs, seating, cushions and curtains fill a large volume with relatively little weight, so they are usually calculated by volume. Order them first and wait for them to arrive to see whether they suit the space before buying the matching colours. We publish no per-kilo price to Kuwait, so work out volume and weight in the calculator and compare floor seating with chairs.

Second batch: what breaks

Tea and coffee sets, cups, trays and glass or ceramic incense burners are ordered once the first batch has settled, each wrapped and separated in the carton. Order a few spare pieces of the kind used most in hosting, since cups break faster than anything else. Photograph the carton on receipt and, if possible, open it in front of the person delivering.

Receiving and the address

Write your address with block, street, parcel and PACI number so both batches reach the same address, with home delivery to Kuwait City, Hawalli, Farwaniya or Jahra. If someone at the diwaniya can receive in the daytime, give their number, since a large sofa is not left at the door. For customs, check the official services on Kuwait’s portal before ordering a large quantity of the same item.

Common questions

Where do I start when furnishing a diwaniya?

With measurements, then the big light batch such as rugs and seating, then the fragile sets.

How do I protect tea and coffee sets?

Wrap each piece, separate them in the carton, order spares, and photograph on receipt.

Should I order everything in one shipment?

Two batches are better: the big first, then the fragile once measurements and space are confirmed.
